The mission of DAREC is threefold:

Innovative Research and Development: To conduct and promote groundbreaking research in digital agriculture, leveraging advanced technologies such as AI, IoT, and smart systems. We aim to develop, test, and validate new and existing digital technologies that enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability.

Education and Training: To offer world-class educational programs in digital agriculture, equipping undergraduate and graduate students with the knowledge and skills to thrive in this rapidly evolving field. Our commitment extends to continual learning opportunities for professionals, fostering a skilled workforce that can drive agricultural transformation.

Outreach and Extension Services: To serve as a central hub for knowledge dissemination and technology demonstration. We are dedicated to engaging with stakeholders, including farmers, industry partners, and government agencies, through our smart farm testbed, digital media platforms, and collaborative outreach initiatives. Our goal is to ensure that the benefits of digital agriculture reach a wide audience, from local communities to international partners, enhancing the global visibility and impact of DAREC.

Establish a multidisciplinary focus group comprising researchers from MU, USDA-ARS, and collaborative institutions.
Develop a smart farm testbed at South Farm for showcasing digital agriculture innovations.
Enhance digital agriculture education for students and professionals through tailored programs and resources.
Build and maintain a digital media platform for effective communication and knowledge sharing.
Foster international collaborations and partnerships to elevate DAREC’s global presence and influence.

• Large spatial variation in landscape and soil conditions
• Large yield variation

Efficient on Sample Area
• Both Automated (lawnmower scouting) and Naive RL (single UAV) unevenly samples the field
• Fleet computer model more evenly samples the field, resulting in a map that only requires 43% coverage to generate an 80% accurate map
